* fine grained red, very uniform in structure
* main use: monuments
* production: 1500 m3 / year
Balmoral Red coarse-grained material is produced at four different quarries.
| Code | Place of Quarry | Quarry name | Grain size | Annual output |
| TH | Taivassalo | Hilloinen | medium | 2000 m3 |
| TJ | " | Järppilä | medium | 5000 m3 |
| TK | " | Korpi | coarse | 5000 m3 |
| TP | " | Pietilä | coarse & medium | 5000 m3 |
The production of each quarry is
classified according to
the quality and colour to the following categories:
TO = medium-grained, dark red type
TLO = slightly paler in the red colour than TO
TT = colour similar to that of TLO, but slightly smaller grained
TL = medium red colour
TS = slightly paler in the red colour than TL
| Quarry | Monuments | Interior claddings | Tiles | Table tops | Floor tiles | Facades |
| TH (Hilloinen) | TO/TLO | TO/TLO | TO | TO | TL/TS | TL/TS |
| TJ (Järppilä) | TLO/TT | TLO/TT | TLO/TT | TLO/TT | TL/TS | TL/TS |
| TP (Pietilä) | TLO | TLO | TLO/TL | TLO/TL/TS | TLO/TL/TS | |
| TK (Korpi) | TLO | TLO/TL/TS | TLO/TL/TS |
The above is for recommendation only. The technical properties
of all the listed stone types fulfill
the norms of the Balmoral Red coarse-grained granite.
production is selected into four different types in the quarry according to the colour and quality ED = extra dark * dark Baltic Brown * specially suitable for monumental purposes and interior decorations & tiles D = dark * dark Baltic Brown * use as above as well as for demanding building projects M = medium * medium brown colour * use specially for large building projects L = light * the lightest tonality, quarried generally on the layers near the surface * economical material * suitable for flamed projects ED, D, M and L production totally about 7500m3/year
production is selected and divided into two types: D = dark brown M = medium brown * the nature of the material is Baltic Brown but the typical round circles are not as clear as in Husu quarry * main use: building projects * production: 2000m3/year
The annual production of the Monola Brown quarry is around 2000 m3.
RD = Royal Dark
- deep dark brown granite with small round circles
D = Dark
- dark brown
M = Standard
- medium brown material especially suitable for building projects
2000-series * intense red, very uniform in colour and structure, very good quality 09VG-series * slightly more brownish than 2000, very compact in structure, very good quality * production: about 3000m3/year
A * quality equal to the above
* red granite with even sized grains, compact though containing some apatite * main use: building projects, table tops * production: about 1500m3/year
* fine grained grey, very hard granite * main use: building projects, monuments in Japan * production: about 700m3/year
* coarse grained granite with red tonality, contains white quartz crystals * main use: building projects and interior decorations * production: about 1000m3/year * this material is also called Finnish Koral
